The series premise includes elements from "The Six Million Dollar Man" (1974) and "The Bionic Woman" (1976), such as Jamie Sommers being equipped with a bionic eye in addition to her ear. Furthermore, the trailer describes her as "Better, Stronger, Faster," the major catch phrase in the title sequence of The Six Million Dollar Man.
When she first appeared, in _"Six Million Dollar Man, The" (1974)_ , the original bionic woman was also intended to be a "Jamie". Unfortunately, Lindsay Wagner mis-spelled the name "Jaime" during a special effects sequence involving a fake tree, and the studio decided to change the name rather than reshoot the scene. The spelling was retained for the subsequent spin-off series.
